We want a fair deal for Alpine’s minority shareholders
On July 27, 2017, Alps Electric Co. Ltd (6770 JP) announced its plans to takeover Alpine Electronics Inc. (6816 JP) effective January 1, 2019 at an exchange ratio of 0.68 shares of Alps for every one (1) share of Alpine that they do not already own (Alps owned 40.43% of Alpine before this offer). The offer valued shareholder’s shares at ¥2,108 on the day after the announcement. Alpine minority investors are not getting a fair deal.
Alpine’s shares are worth in excess of JPY4,000 per share -- well above the current implied value of just JPY1,724 per share.
What can you do about it?
